The series is inspired by the mesmerizing natural phenomenon known as 'Sort Sol' (Danish for 'Black Sun'). ’Sort Sol' occurs in the marshlands of southwestern Jutland, Denmark, where large flocks of starlings gather during spring and autumn as they travel between their winter habitats in Southern Europe and their breeding grounds in Scandinavia and the Baltic region.'Sort sol' takes place in the hours just after sunset where thousands of birds gather in large flocks, creating stunning, ever-shifting patterns that ripple across the horizon before settling down to roost for the night. These dramatic formations, both beautiful and haunting, are captured and reimagined in the Black Sun series.
DETAILS
The serigraph is made from one of Kristina Krogh's original drawings with thousands of dots made by hand. The artwork is created with gold metallic ink on thick white textured art paper from Hahnemühle (known to deliver some of the worlds best fine art paper qualities). The heavy mould-made paper features a distinct textured surface in both look and feel.FRAMING
