The artwork is created through blind embossing on thick cotton paper. By applying pressure to the surface, the paper is stretched and subtly transformed, creating a quiet relief within the material. The forms emerge through light and shadow rather than pigment, allowing the artwork to shift in expression as the light changes. The clean, minimal impression appeals to both the visual and tactile senses.Each piece is handmade and will vary due to the natural movement of the paper during the embossing and drying process. Place the artwork where natural daylight is present, as this enhances the subtle relief and reveals the shifting interplay of light and shadow.
*Arches uses no optical brighteners so its natural white colour will not yellow with age and archival value is ensured. The heavy mould-made cotton paper features a distinct textured surface in both look and feel.
